Who we are and what this covers

This Privacy Policy explains how VOLCANO COMPANY LLC, the publisher and operator of Gorilla Game (“Gorilla Game,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), processes personal information through the Gorilla Game Meta Quest application, this website, support, and related services. Where applicable, VOLCANO COMPANY LLC is the data controller and the business responsible for this processing.

We are based in the United States. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to support@gorillagamevr.com. Meta separately processes information connected with Meta accounts, devices, the Meta Horizon Store, and payments under its Privacy Policy.

Important points

  • We do not sell or rent personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Gorilla Game does not show ads. This website has no developer-added advertising or analytics cookies.
  • For voice-enabled accounts, the game client sends microphone audio separately to Photon for room voice and directly to VoicePatrol for automated moderation. Photon does not send the audio to VoicePatrol.
  • LIV LCK recording and photo tools save captured content to your device. A livestream sends content to the streaming service you choose.
  • Custom maps, images, comments, and profile information chosen for publication may become public.
  • Parents and players can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete covered account data using the process below.

Information we process and why

We process information to provide and maintain Gorilla Game, enable multiplayer and social features, fulfill purchases, preserve progression, provide custom maps, moderate voice and user content, provide optional recording and streaming tools, support users, prevent fraud and cheating, comply with law, and improve reliability and gameplay.

Meta account and platform data

The Meta Horizon Store states that Gorilla Game may access your app-scoped user ID, Horizon username, display name, profile picture, avatar data, age category, and eligible followers or people you follow who also own the game. We may also receive achievements, purchase or DLC entitlement status, and a requested invite or deep-link destination. We use this data to authenticate you, show your chosen identity or appearance, apply age-appropriate settings, support social play, fulfill purchases, restore content, and prevent fraud.

Authentication and integrity data

Our backend may process Meta-issued user proofs, short-lived access tokens, device or application integrity tokens, IP address, and security events to verify entitlement, authenticate accounts, prevent cheating, and block unauthorized clients. Eligible legacy accounts may use a device-derived identifier to connect old progress to an authenticated account.

PlayFab account and game data

Microsoft PlayFab may process a PlayFab ID, linked platform identifier, display name, IP-derived region, device and sign-in information, inventory, virtual currency, purchases, progression, statistics, achievements, leaderboards, custom player data, gameplay events, and moderation or sanction records. We use this information to keep accounts, content, purchases, and progress working across sessions and to operate and secure the game.

Photon multiplayer and voice transport

Exit Games/Photon may process a player ID or random session identifier, nickname, IP address, network diagnostics, room membership, player or room properties, game events, and real-time headset, controller, hand-pose, avatar-position, and other state needed for multiplayer interactions. For accounts permitted to use voice chat that grant microphone access, the Gorilla Game client sends voice audio to Photon Voice so Photon can transmit it to other players in the room. Photon does not send Gorilla Game voice audio to VoicePatrol; the client’s separate, direct VoicePatrol processing is described below.

Voice safety and moderation

Voice moderation is enabled for voice-enabled Gorilla Game sessions. The Gorilla Game client separately sends microphone audio directly to VoicePatrol, independently of Photon, so VoicePatrol can analyze it in real time for potentially abusive, threatening, hateful, grooming-related, or otherwise prohibited speech. VoicePatrol processing may be linked to a PlayFab player ID and session identifier and may produce a violation category, severity, timestamp, and moderation action. The system may automatically warn, mute, remove, flag, or ban a player, subject to review.

LIV Creator Kit capture and telemetry

When you choose to use the integrated LIV Creator Kit (LCK), it can capture gameplay video, game audio, optional microphone audio, and still images. Recordings and photos are saved to your device. If you choose to livestream, captured video and audio are sent to the streaming service you configure. LIV states that LCK separately sends technical telemetry associated with Gorilla Game’s LCK tracking ID, including SDK feature usage, recording or streaming session events, quality and resolution settings, SDK, game, engine, platform, device, operating-system, render-pipeline, and graphics information, performance metrics, and errors or crash reports. LIV states that LCK does not send recorded video, microphone content, camera images, in-game account data, or gameplay content to LIV, although LIV server logs may temporarily contain an IP address for debugging.

Custom maps and mod.io data

When custom-map features are used, mod.io may process a platform or mod.io ID, display name, avatar, authentication information, IP or device information, age-verification or consent status where required, map files and metadata, images, subscriptions or downloads, ratings, reports, comments, purchases, crash data, and usage telemetry. Content and profile information chosen for publication may be publicly visible and may be copied or shared by others.

Backend, website, and support data

Our Koyeb-hosted backend and website providers may process IP address, request content, account or game identifiers, timestamps, security events, user-agent or device information, requested pages, short-lived security-cookie identifiers, diagnostics, crash information, and application logs. We also process support messages, bug reports, privacy requests, and information voluntarily included in them. We use these records to operate and secure the services, investigate abuse, answer requests, and diagnose problems.

Meta handles payment-card and billing credentials. Gorilla Game receives purchase identifiers and entitlement or fulfillment status, not payment-card details. We do not use personal information from Meta Horizon for targeted advertising.

How information reaches us

We receive information:

  • From you, when you speak in voice chat, create or publish content, report a player, or contact support.
  • Automatically, from the game, device, browser, network connection, and use of our services.
  • From platform and service providers, including Meta, PlayFab, Photon, VoicePatrol, mod.io, and LIV, when their connected features are used.
  • From other players, when they interact with you, hear you in a shared room, or submit a report involving your account or conduct.

Recording, photos, and streaming

Gorilla Game includes optional creator tools supplied by the LIV Creator Kit (LCK). You decide when to take a photo, start or stop a recording, or start or stop a stream. Microphone audio is included only when microphone access and microphone capture are enabled. You can deny or withdraw microphone permission in your device settings, but recordings and streams will then omit your microphone audio.

Photos and recordings are stored in your device gallery or local storage and remain there until you delete them or the device’s storage rules remove them. LIV states that this captured content is not uploaded to LIV. When you intentionally start a livestream, the video, game audio, and any enabled microphone audio are sent to the streaming destination you configure, whose terms and privacy policy then apply.

Captured content can include other players’ avatars, movements, usernames, and voices. Before sharing or streaming, respect other players’ privacy, do not disclose private information, and obtain any permission required by law. Technical LCK telemetry is used to operate, support, debug, secure, and improve the creator tools; it is not used by us for advertising.

Voice chat and moderation

Voice chat requires microphone permission and is available only to Meta account age categories that Gorilla Game treats as Teen or Adult. When voice chat is used, the Gorilla Game client sends microphone audio to Photon Voice for delivery to other players in the room and separately sends microphone audio directly to VoicePatrol for automated safety analysis. Voice moderation is enabled for these voice-enabled sessions. Photon does not send Gorilla Game audio to VoicePatrol. You can deny or disable microphone permission in your device settings, but voice features will not work.

VoicePatrol states that audio not flagged as toxic is automatically deleted. Audio tied to its most severe automated detections may be retained for up to 60 days.

Automated moderation evaluates audio against configured safety categories and severity thresholds. It may issue a warning, mute, removal, flag, or ban. A player can request human review of a moderation action by emailing support@gorillagamevr.com. We do not use voice audio for advertising.

Custom maps and public content

Custom-map and community features use mod.io. Information chosen for a public profile or upload, including a display name, avatar, map, image, description, rating, or comment, may be visible to other players and through mod.io. Do not publish your real name, contact details, exact location, or another person’s personal information. Removing content later may not remove copies already made by other people.

mod.io requires acceptance of its current terms and privacy notice for relevant account or UGC features. Players below the applicable digital-consent age may need parent or guardian authorization and may be unable to use these features when that authorization is not available.

Service providers and sharing

We disclose information only as needed to:

  • Meta Platforms for account, platform, entitlement, achievement, store, purchase, age-category, avatar, and social functionality.
  • Microsoft PlayFab as a service provider for player accounts, inventory, economy, progression, purchases, statistics, telemetry, and deletion or export support.
  • Exit Games/Photon as a service provider for multiplayer networking, room state, and transmitting voice to other players. Photon does not send Gorilla Game voice audio to VoicePatrol.
  • VoicePatrol as a separate service provider that receives microphone audio directly from the Gorilla Game client for automated voice-safety analysis, flagged incident evidence, enforcement support, and review.
  • mod.io for custom-map, user-generated-content, profile, subscription, rating, reporting, and moderation features.
  • LIV Inc. for LCK technical telemetry, error reporting, performance metrics, feature-usage analytics, and support for optional recording and streaming tools. LIV does not receive the locally saved captured video, audio, or images through LCK.
  • A streaming service selected by the player only when that player intentionally starts a livestream using LCK. The selected service receives the streamed content and connection information under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Koyeb for hosting and delivering the Gorilla Game backend and its operational logs.
  • Cloudflare for website hosting, content delivery, traffic security, and bot protection.
  • Authorities, courts, professional advisers, or a successor to our business when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, legal rights, service security, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale.

Unity Technologies supplies the Unity engine used to build and run Gorilla Game. We do not use Unity Ads. Using the engine by itself does not mean that we send Unity the account, voice, or gameplay data described above. If we enable a Unity online service that materially changes player-data processing, we will update this policy before that use.

Provider notices: Microsoft, Photon, VoicePatrol, mod.io, LIV, Koyeb DPA, Unity, and Cloudflare.

Website logs and cookies

This public website does not use developer-added advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may receive IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested URL, timestamps, and security signals and may set a short-lived cookie that is strictly necessary for bot protection and service security. You can block cookies in your browser, but doing so may interfere with these protections.

Children and age-appropriate use

Gorilla Game is a mixed-age experience intended for players aged 10 and older. It is not intended for children under 10, who are not permitted to use Meta Quest services. Players aged 10–12, or below the applicable regional age, must use a parent-managed Meta account and any additional parent or guardian authorization required by law or by a connected service.

When Meta provides an age category, we use the category, not a date of birth, to apply age-appropriate features, privacy protections, and restrictions. Meta does not return eligible follower or following data for users under 13 or the applicable regional age. mod.io account and publishing features may also be restricted or require parental authorization for younger players.

Gorilla Game disables voice chat and microphone capture for Meta Child accounts, including parent-managed preteen accounts that Meta classifies as Child. Those sessions do not send microphone audio to Photon Voice or VoicePatrol. Meta Teen and Adult accounts may use voice chat after granting device microphone permission, and automated VoicePatrol moderation is enabled whenever those voice features are active.

LIV states that its products are not intended for children under 13 and that users aged 13 through 17 need permission from a parent or guardian. Players under 13 should not use the LCK recording or streaming features, and players under 18 should use them only with parent or guardian permission. Parents can contact us to request that these features be restricted for a child’s account.

Information associated with a child can include platform and game-account identifiers, persistent device or network identifiers, profile images or avatars, gameplay progress, support messages, and public UGC. Gorilla Game does not collect voice audio from Meta Child accounts because microphone capture and voice chat are disabled for those accounts. Where parental notice and verifiable consent are legally required, we obtain or confirm that authorization before the covered collection, use, or disclosure, or we restrict the affected feature. A child’s acceptance of this policy or grant of a device permission is not treated as parental consent. We do not condition a child’s participation on providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary for the available feature, and we do not use children’s information for advertising.

We disclose children’s information only to providers needed to operate an approved feature, protect players, satisfy a legal requirement, or as otherwise described in this policy. We take reasonable steps to use providers capable of protecting the confidentiality, security, and integrity of children’s information. When a third-party disclosure is not integral to the feature a parent approved, we provide any additional parental choice required by law.

A verified parent or guardian may review a child’s information, request correction or deletion, and refuse further collection or use by following our data-deletion process or emailing support@gorillagamevr.com. We may verify the requester’s identity and authority. If required authorization is withdrawn, we will stop the covered processing and may disable the affected account or feature.

Where applicable, we process information to perform our contract by providing the game and requested features; with consent for optional microphone, recording, streaming, public-content, or child-data processing where consent is required; for legitimate interests such as security, fraud and cheat prevention, moderation, support, and service improvement; and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent through the relevant settings or by contacting us, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

How long we keep information

  • Account, purchase, progression, inventory, and published-content records are generally kept while the account or content is active and afterward only as needed for restoration, disputes, fraud prevention, safety, or law.
  • Live Photon room state, movement, voice transmission, and invite destinations are generally transient. Photon does not send Gorilla Game voice audio to VoicePatrol.
  • VoicePatrol audio not flagged as toxic is automatically deleted. Audio tied to the most severe automated detections may be retained for up to 60 days. Flagged audio and related moderation records are kept only as reasonably needed to investigate, enforce, resolve an appeal, protect players, or meet legal obligations.
  • LCK photos and recordings are stored on the player’s device or local computer and remain until the player deletes them or the device’s storage rules remove them. Livestream content is retained, if at all, under the selected streaming service’s policy.
  • LCK technical telemetry is retained by LIV according to its published schedule: error logs and crash reports for 90 days, performance metrics for one year, and analytics for two years.
  • Backend, connection, security, crash, and error logs are kept for a limited operational period based on the configured service plan and longer only when needed to investigate a specific issue.
  • Support and privacy-request records are kept while the request is handled and for a reasonable period afterward to document the response and comply with law.

We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed or after a verified deletion request, subject to narrow legal, transaction, fraud-prevention, safety, and security exceptions. Residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until their normal deletion cycle completes. Provider-side deletion can take time to propagate through ancillary systems and backups.

Access, correction, export, and deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or delete personal information and to appeal certain decisions. We generally extend these request options to all players, subject to reasonable verification, legal exceptions, and technical limits. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.

Follow the Gorilla Game data-deletion instructions or email support@gorillagamevr.com with the subject “Gorilla Game Privacy Request.” Include your Meta Horizon username and, if available, the Gorilla Game, Meta app-scoped, PlayFab, or mod.io identifier connected with the account. Do not send a password, access token, payment-card number, government ID, or other sensitive credential unless we specifically request an approved verification method.

After verification, we will act without undue delay and instruct relevant service providers to handle applicable copies. Deleting developer-controlled data may permanently remove progress, inventory, currency, custom-map activity, moderation history, and access to associated features. This process does not delete your Meta account or information Meta independently controls. mod.io also provides its own privacy and deletion tools. You may also complain to a local privacy or data-protection authority where that right applies.

For information LIV controls through LCK telemetry, you can also contact privacy@liv.tv. Include Gorilla Game and an approximate date of use, but do not send a password, access token, or other sensitive credential.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including encrypted transport, token-based authentication, access controls, integrity checks, and restricted administrative access. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries in which they or their approved subprocessors operate. Koyeb customer workloads are deployed in the region we select, while network traffic may pass through its edge providers. LIV states that LCK telemetry may be processed in the United States or Europe. Where a transfer safeguard is legally required, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision, contractual mechanism, or another valid safeguard available through the provider arrangement.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the game, its providers, or legal requirements change. The page will show a revised effective date, and we will provide appropriate notice before a material change takes effect when required.
